Author Guidelines

General Information

Manuscripts must be original, have not been published previously in any scientific journal, are not being submitted for publication elsewhere, and will not be submitted to any media during the review process unless the authors have officially withdrawn the manuscript from the Journal of Islamic Studies and Research on Arabic (JISRA). The statement must be submitted via a statement of originality and copyright release form (Author/s Statement).

  • Plagiarism Screening: JISRA uses Similarity Check powered by Turnitin / Plagiarism Checker to prevent any suspected plagiarism in submitted manuscripts.

  • Research Ethics: Manuscripts submitted must report research that complies with institutional and international academic ethics standards (including field research involving human participants in educational or social settings).

  • Publication Frequency: The journal is published 2 (twice) a year, in June and December.

Manuscript File

  • Language: Manuscripts can be written in English, Arabic, or Indonesian using standard scientific usage. Authors whose primary language is not English or Arabic are strongly advised to consult an academic language editing service prior to submission.

  • File Format: Manuscripts must be prepared in Microsoft Word (.docx) format. Graphs should be generated using Microsoft Excel, and figures/illustrations should be provided in JPEG or PDF format (minimum 300 dpi resolution).

  • Typography: Manuscripts should be typed using Georgia fonts at 11 point for English and Indonesian text (or Traditional Arabic at 14 point for Arabic text).

  • Page Layout: The length of the manuscript should be approximately 8 to 15 pages on A4 paper size, with uniform 3 cm margins (top, bottom, left, right), single column (except for abstract, references, figures, or tables where layout adjustments are required for readability), justified text alignment, and single line spacing.

  • Structure & Headings: The manuscript should comprise the following main sections:

    • Introduction

    • Theoretical and Conceptual Frameworks

    • Methodology

    • Results and Discussion

    • Conclusion and Suggestions

    • Acknowledgment (optional)

    • Author Contributions Statement

    • References

  • Title: The title must be concise, specific, informative, and accurately represent the core content of the manuscript.

  • Author Information: Author(s) full name(s) (without academic titles) must be placed below the title, followed by institutional affiliation(s) and corresponding email address(es).

  • Abstract: The abstract must be written in English (and accompanied by an Indonesian or Arabic abstract where applicable). It must be structured narratively (150–250 words) comprising: research background, primary objectives, methodology, key findings, and main conclusion.

  • Reporting Guidelines: Authors are encouraged to adhere to established reporting standards, such as SRQR (Standards for Reporting Qualitative Research) for qualitative studies or PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) for systematic reviews and literature analyses.

  • Keywords: Provide 3 to 5 specific words or phrases that represent the main topics of the manuscript.

  • Citation & Reference Style: All citations and references must strictly follow the APA 7th Edition style (or Chicago Manual of Style 17th Edition for classical Islamic text transliterations where appropriate).

  • Reference Requirements: At least 80% of references should consist of primary sources (scientific journals and research monographs) published within the last 5 to 10 years.

  • Journal Template: The manuscript must be formatted strictly according to the TEMPLATE of Journal of Islamic Studies and Research on Arabic.

  • Online Submission: Manuscripts must be submitted electronically via the Open Journal System (OJS). Authors must REGISTER an account if they do not have one, or LOG IN to submit.

  • Author Metadata: All co-authors' names, affiliations, email addresses, and short bio statements must be fully registered in the metadata section during Step 3 ("Enter Metadata") of the OJS submission process by clicking 'Add Author'.

  • Communication: All correspondence, editorial decisions, and status updates regarding submitted manuscripts will be communicated via the registered email addresses and can be tracked directly through the OJS author dashboard.
